- Renewable energy availability changes how we operate modern mines, fuel cars, and supply nearby communities with heating and cooling.
Renewable energy is an affordable choice for miners, who use it to crush, dig, and process minerals. Renewables (or green energy) are generated from sources that replenish over time. The most common uses of renewable energy in the mining industry involve:
- Wind
- Solar
- Biodiesel
- Geothermal energy
- Hydropower
- Hydrogen and fuel cell energy
- Here is how renewable energy technology is changing the mining industry for the better:
- Cheaper mining operations
- More employment opportunities for engineers
- Lower greenhouse gas emissions
- Sustainable development support
- Energy efficiency on mine sites
- The use of renewable energy is one of the main challenges for the TioFab team in the project design and Mining and Processing plant construction.
TIOFAB company is considering a set of possibilities for using renewable energy sources in order to reduce the energy intensity of production and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. According to preliminary estimates, with an estimated consumption of about 25 MW/h for future production, electricity from renewable energy sources can replace up to 80% of the electricity required for the production processes of the Mining and Processing Plant, generated from fossil fuels.
- Solar energy and wind energy lower environmental risks and fill power to the grid
The decrease in the cost of generation technologies based on renewable energy sources leads to an increasingly frequent use of solar and wind generation to support production processes. The region where the field is located has favorable natural conditions and the cost of solar and wind energy (own solar system and own wind generators) will be significantly lower for production than the commercial power grids. This will significantly reduce the operating costs of the enterprise. The company is conducting preliminary negotiations on the allotment of a plot of land of 15 hectares for the installation of a solar power plant with a capacity of 10 MW.
- Electricity from combustion of biofuel from a waste treatment plant – take away the bad and get the good
The group of companies, a member of which is TIOFAB, is considering, in agreement with the state and city authorities of Cherkassy and the region, a project for the construction of a waste recycling plant -NEW GENERATION OF WASTE AND FUEL PROCESSING UNITS, which will be able to provide production with electricity up to 8 MW/h.
- Water energy – not only good for the environment, but also good for profit
A good example for the Project is KENMARE RESOURCES, which meets 90% of its electricity needs from hydropower. Environmental safety is one of the main advantages of hydraulic installations. Based on this, the TIOFAB company is considering the construction of a small hydroelectric power plant (up to 25 MW) on the Gorny Tikich river in the Buki village of the Cherkassy region, which would be one of the optimal solutions for the power supply of Nosachev Mining and Processing Plant
