Five factors that make it possible to call the Nosachev apatite and ilmenite ore deposit the most unique in the world:
I. Deposit
dimensions
The Nosachev deposit is unique (very large)* in terms of the amount of reserves of apatite and
ilmenite ores. The international classification of resources JORC (reserves + resources) [Micromine]
defines the TiO2 reserves of the Nosachev deposit as 52 million tons. For comparison, Lac Tio in
Canada is considered the world’s largest deposit of hematite and ilmenite ores, developed
underground since 1950. Lac Tio’s proven TiO2 reserves are 30 million tonnes. Resources – 23
million tons. In total – 53 million tons.
Additional exploration of the flanks and exploration of the deposits adjacent to the deposit will make the Nosachev deposit of titanium-bearing ores the largest in the world.
* In terms of titanium dioxide reserves, industrial deposits are divided into the following groups: 1) very large (unique) with reserves exceeding 10 million tons; 2) large – 1-10 million tons; 3) medium – from 100 thousand tons to 1 million tons; 4) small – from 50 to 100 thousand tons.
II. Easy processing as a result of:
— absence of harmful impurities;
— homogeneity of the ore, which allows not to change the processing technology depending on the
parts of the ore body;
— the absence of radiation and, accordingly, the cost of decontamination during processing.
All this has a very positive effect on the operating costs for the production of ilmenite concentrate
and significantly reduces the cost of final products.
III. Extraction of product from the original ore
Due to the high quality of the ore* – the highest percentage of TiO2 recovery from the original ore to
the ilmenite concentrate. At the McIntyre plant (USA) titanium-magnetite ores with TiO2 content up to 10% are processed. As a result, an ilmenite concentrate is obtained with a TiO2 content of 44-45% with a recovery of 59%, i.e. of 10% Ti02 in the original ore, only 5.9% is recovered. More than 80% recovery at the Nosachev deposit.
*The high quality of the ilmenite concentrate of the Nosachev deposit is confirmed by the conclusion of the Sumy GosNII MINDIP, which characterized the Nosachev ilmenite concentrate as a quality standard of titanium-containing raw materials. Norwegian concentrate (Titania factory), which is one of the best in the world, is inferior in quality to ilmenite concentrate obtained from the ores of the Nosachev deposit.
IV. TiO2 content in the original ore
A sufficiently high content of ТіО2* 14.3% in the ore of the detailed block (54 million tons of ore for
14+ years of operation of the mining and processing plant), which allows you to recoup your
investment in the shortest possible time, despite the underground mining method.
* Alluvial mines with a content of titan at least 20 kg/t are corresponding to stipulated standards in terms of “conditional ilmenite”, and for primary deposits – ores that, upon mechanical enrichment, yield ilmenite concentrate of at least 10% or rutile at least 1.5% of initial ore mass.
V. Waste-free production
Three main products are the result of ore processing:
— Ilmenite concentrate (titanium-containing) – raw material for the production of pigment dioxide
and metallic titanium.
— Apatite concentrate (phosphorus-containing) – raw material for the production of phosphorus
fertilizers.
— Feldspar concentrate is a necessary raw material for the production of all types of sheet glass,
glass containers, products made of vacuum and heat-resistant glass.
Olivene-pyroxene product (tailings) – will be used for filling mined spaces.

And as a result – the unique profitability of the Project.
